On the initiative of the Anda family, part of the Maggia Delta became a bird sanctuary (previously managed by the WWF, today by the Bolle di Magadino foundation). Important migratory birds nest in this protected area that is not accessible to the public. They can be observed in the Castello del Sole area, particularly in spring and autumn.
