Castello Del Sole

Handling Plastic

Our five-star hotels — Storchen Zürich, Widder Hotel, Alex Lake Zürich, and Castello del Sole — are taking environmental protection a step further. In guest areas, single-use plastic materials have largely been replaced with high-quality and sustainable alternatives. Some remaining stocks are still being gradually used up. The hotels work closely with suppliers to find innovative products and replace plastic as a packaging material. Plastic waste is collected and disposed of separately in the hotels to ensure that the majority can be recycled. At the same time, we also provide financial support to the CleanHub organization to contribute to proper plastic disposal worldwide.

Preventing polluted oceans

CleanHub is committed to collecting and recycling plastic in polluted coastal regions around the world. With partners around the world, CleanHub prevents plastic from ending up in the sea in the first place. The collected plastic waste is handed over to local organisations for recycling. The non-recyclable part is sorted and used in "co-processing" for the production of cement.

The Living Circle actively supports the CleanHub project known as the "No Trash Coral Triangle", located off the coast of North Sulawesi in Indonesia. Thanks to The Living Circle's unwavering commitment, over 25,000 kilograms of plastic waste have already been meticulously collected from the beaches and immediate vicinity of the Coral Triangle - an iconic and protected coral reef system in Indonesia. This concerted effort not only contributes to environmental conservation, but also creates fairly paid local employment opportunities. CleanHub, in partnership with The Living Circle, is ensuring sustainable development and providing vital support to the local community.
